Garlicky Green Beans Almondine
Garlicky green beans almondine is an elegant, simple, and delicious side dish that comes together quickly and is perfect for the holidays!

We eat green beans as a side dish at least a few times a month since my whole family enjoys them. I’ve always loved the classic French dish of green beans almondine, but decided to elevate it by adding sautéed shallots, lots of garlic, and fresh lemon juice. We all enjoyed this easy green bean recipe and thought it paired nicely with juicy steaks, Duchess baked potatoes, and dinner rolls.
Garlicky Green Beans Almondine
Ingredients:
- ½ lb green beans, ends trimmed
- 2 tbsp almond slices
- 2 tbsp butter
- ½ small shallot, sliced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- Juice & zest from ½ a lemon
- Sea salt and freshly cracked pepper, to taste

How to Make Garlicky Green Beans Almondine:
Bring a large pot of well-salted water to a boil over high heat.
Blanch the green beans in the boiling water for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until crisp-tender.
Add the butter to the skillet and, once it has melted, add the sliced shallots and minced garlic. Sauté for an additional 1 to 2 minutes, stirring constantly, until fragrant and lightly caramelized.
Using tongs, transfer the crisp-tender green beans from the boiling water directly to the skillet. Sauté briefly, gently tossing the green beans with the almond mixture until evenly combined and tender.
Add the lemon juice & zest, toss once again, and season with sea salt and freshly cracked pepper to taste. Serve immediately. Enjoy.
