      I bought this mortar to primarily grind dry spices more finely after using my electric spice grinder. It works really well after dry rice seasoning. It seems to crush dried herbs pretty easily. It's a great size for small to medium jobs.

      Its weight is relatively heavy compared to other marble mortars, but the weight is comparable to marble blocks. The extra weight in the pestle helps with grinding so there's less effort on our part.

      It's a great value for its cost and marble quality. It arrived well packaged and in new condition without damage. Worth a try.

      I LOVE to make Chia and use this for crushing the cardamom and ginger. It is the perfect size for this use and small enough it doesn't take much room either on the counter or in a drawer. It is well made from marble and very nice to look at as well. The weight of the marble is very helpful in keeping it stable while using the pestle. I would definitely buy another for a gift and would highly recommend it for for all your herbs and spices when needed. Really a good price as well.
